Your last full day at Les Sources Sacrées! Today, we have a very special treat in store for you: a visit to the lake at Aignan, in the Aignan woods. The lake and the woods used to belong to the king, but after the revolution, the wood became communal hunting grounds. The oak trees in this wood are hundreds of years old, some dating from way before the revolution. This is a quiet spot in the winter, totally deserted usually, but in summer it takes on a festive air, with its beach and its beachside brasserie.
We are going to skip this morning’s walk, because we are going to walk the footpath around the Aignan lake instead. This morning’s mindfulness session is a feast for all five our senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and movement. The idea is to use all five your senses together today to anchor you in the present moment.
At some pont during this morning, try the Five Senses Exercise.
This exercise facilitates the practice of mindfulness quickly in nearly any situation. All you have to do is to focus alternatively on each of your five senses.
- Notice five things that you can see.
Look around you and bring your attention to five things that you can see. Choose something that you don’t normally notice, like the shape of a leaf or the texture of a tree trunk.
- Notice four things that you can feel.
Bring awareness to four things that you are currently feeling, like the temperature of the water in the lake, the feeling of the sun on your skin, or the sensation of the sand running through your fingers.
- Notice three things you can hear.
Take a moment to listen, and note three things that you hear in the background. This can be the chirp of a bird, the laughter of playing children, or the sound of your footsteps on the path.
- Notice two things you can smell.
Bring your awareness to smells that you usually filter out, whether they’re pleasant or unpleasant. Perhaps you smell suntan lotion, or wet leaves under the trees or a dead fish.
- Notice one thing you can taste.
Focus on one thing that you can taste right now, in this moment. You can take a sip from your water bottle, chew a piece of gum, eat a piece of fruit, or just notice the current taste in your mouth.
This is a quick and easy exercise to help you become instantly mindful that you can do just about anywhere even if you only have a minute or two.
We will be leaving the farm at 10h00 and we will ba back early afternoon, in time for a siesta before the afternoon”s session.
Bring your swimming costume, suntan lotion, sunglasses, sunhat, water bottle and walking shoes.

This afternoon’s meditation session is a Music Meditation.
“Music… will help dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibilities, and in time of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
You will need to do a bit of preparation for this session. Start by reading the Music Meditation chapter in your Mindfulness and Meditation in the South of France e-book as well as the What is Music Meditation? page on this website.
Once you understand how it works, choose a few pieces of music that you would like to use for the session this afternoon o, Youtube and make yourself a playlist that is about 30 minutes long. Or you can choose one of the recordings on my Meditation Music Playlist on Youtube.
You can also use a Guided Music Meditation like this one:
Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons. You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body. – Oliver Wendell Holmes
If you have a bit of free time after the afternoon session and dinner, you might want to access our Resources Page and download Jon Kabat-Zinn’s excellent book, Mindfulness Meditation for Everyday Life.
Our final celebration dinner will be ready at 19h30.
Tomorrow, we will put breakfast out at 9h00 as usual. The workshop officially finishes at 11h00. If you need a lift to Nogaro to catch the bus, please let us know this evening.
- If you are interested in booking a 1/3/6 month coaching program, now would be a good time to ask any questions that you may have about the program.
- If you are staying on for a Private VIP Day or a Group VIP Day, I’ll e-mail you tomorrow’s program.
- If you are staying on for a couple of days’ bed-and-breakfast, we will be very happy to discuss the region’s main attractions at length and in detail this evening.
We hope with all our hearts that you have had an absolutely wonderful time!
