Welcome to Les Sources Sacrées! our much-loved home amongst the Armagnac, Madiran and Saint Mont vineyards, 90 minutes south-east of Bordeaux in the South-West of France. Joining us for a workshop at Les Sources Sacrées will give you a chance to pause and look at your life from a new perspective and often provide unexpected answers to the questions that you just have not dared to ask. We look forward to sharing our region, our home and our horses with you!
The house is an ancient but very comfortable half-timbered farmhouse, a maison landaise, as they are called in the region, with a large amount of enchanting old-world charm hanging about it. We renovated it SLOWLY, retaining as many original features as possible. This tranquil, rural retreat nestles in several acres (20, to be precise/8 Ha) of private gardens, paddocks, vineyards and woods – a haven for wildlife and for our own menagerie – our horses, cats and one enormous dog. The house is secluded but not isolated and is yet only a few minutes’ drive from several bustling villages and towns with all amenities. It is 3 km from a village with a small supermarket, a couple of restaurants and bistros, doctors, dentists, banks, boulangeries, patisseries, hairdressers, notaires, estate agents, cinemas, a bull-fighting arena, a tourist office, two pharmacies and a petrol station. We are less than 2 hours from the Atlantic beaches, the Spanish border and the Pyrenées Ski-slopes.
Warm hospitality awaits you here – a byword for the timeless elegance of days gone by. Because we are a small establishment, taking no more than 10 guests at one time, you will enjoy a level of comfort that can only come from a passionate desire to make your stay one of warmth and friendship.
We have a guest wing with two double and one single guest rooms, as well as 2 more double guest rooms in the main house. All of our rooms are decorated to a very high standard, combining modern comforts with timeless elegance and an eye for detail. Each room has its own distinct character. The beds have comfortable mattresses and fine bed linen – all guaranteed to provide you with a good night’s sleep. We have made the rooms as welcoming as possible. There is extensive, shaded and private off-road parking. Free Internet access is available both in the main house and the guest wing.
Our Guest Accommodation:
Attending a Mindfulness Meditation Stress Management Workshop will encourage you to reach beyond your (often self-imposed) limitations. It will challenge you physically and mentally, but you will emerge inspired by a fresh sense of what you are capable of and you will master a range of new skills and at levels much deeper than mere intellectual knowledge. To enable our guests to process these experiences, we have created several quiet seating areas, where you can while away a few peaceful hours thinking, meditating, resting, sleeping or reading a good book.
The Sans Souci Lake
This 2 acres natural lake lies at the heart of Les Sources Sacrées farm and is fed by five mountain springs, reputed to have healing properties. In previous centuries, pilgrims on the Santiago de Compostelle pilgrims’ route came here to drink the water from the springs and pray for healing in the chapel adjacent to the farm.
The lake is home to a large variety of birds, fish and animals and an oasis for the animals living in the woods nearby. Do not be surprised if, while you are quietly meditating on the island in the lake, you are suddenly joined by a shy deer family cautiously approaching to have a drink and maybe a frolic in the cool water.
Les Sources Sacrées have much to offer…the best way to discover why our guests come back year after year is to visit in person. We hope that your stay in this extraordinary part of the South West of France will be especially memorable.
