#InspiringWomen to watch on #InternationalWomensDay

Today is International Women’s Day. Not only is it the day we celebrate the achievements of women, past and present, it is also the day I am launching my first ever online group.

Running one’s own business is tough. There are ups and downs. When I hit a down, I google “Inspiring Women” and read about women who have made their dreams come true despite their situations. The search takes time, though, so I wondered, wouldn’t it be great if there was a “library” somewhere with articles about inspiring women? Couldn’t find one, so I created one. My group, Mpowering Women, on LinkedIn. Whenever you feel down, you can go there and read inspiring articles and talk to other women with problems similar to yours. The group exists, not only to celebrate the lives and achievements of the women we admire and who inspire us as role models, but also to offer you somewhere where you can share the challenges that you, as a working woman, come up against. A place where we encourage each other, support each other, share what works for us, learn from each other, empower each other and celebrate our own and each other’s achievements.

Since I have never done anything like this before, it does all feel rather intimidating. What if no one wants to join my group? I figured that all I can do is continue to post the articles about women who inspire me and spread the word about the existence of the group as far and as wide as I can. I would appreciate it enormously if you could help me to do this. Please join, and please invite your friends to join too. If you are not on LinkedIn, I also have a Facebook page called Mpowering Women, that may be of interest.

To celebrate International Women’s Day today, I have collected the TED talks of 10 women I think are worth watching this year.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay!
